REALITY???

March 14, 2011

I AM A HATER.  I CONFESS.  I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, HATE REALITY SHOWS.  Every one of them. Dancing, singing, bitching, moaning...every last one of them!! I am crippled by incredulity while I surf 127 Infinity channels--which I pay dearly for--and nearly a third are overtaken by these inane productions. Real Housewives; Basketball Wives; Supernanny;Teen Moms; Sara Palin's F*ing Alaska; Keeping Up With The Kardashians; Kimora Lee Simmons' Fabulous Life...it's ridiculous!  None of The Real Housewives are housewives.  Most of them aren't even wives.  Basketballs wives are used to be's or never beens.  And nobody--not even SuperMan--could tame those badass kids on Supernanny in three days.  As far as Teen Moms are concerned, any mama, teen or otherwise--even casual observers of mamas--know that Mama Drama is waaaay more intense than the little hiccups these teens have. All I want to do is forget Sarah Palin, her hypocrisy, and her f*ing Alaska! How this woman became a household name does nothing but speak to the cradle of ignorance we rock ourselves to sleep in every night.

Me, I couldn't Keep Up With The Kardashians if I had to.  My daddy didn't help defend OJ; my mom didn't marry a former Olympian/plastic surgery experiment gone awry; and my naked butt has not been circulated on You Tube...not yet, anyway. Kim Kardashian's rise to fame...

It's February 14th.  So where are my flowers?

It's a question women all over America are asking themselves.  In every city in every state women sit behind their desks or gaze out their windows with crossed  fingers hoping that every time they see a delivery man he's got something for them.  They watch as their co-workers swoon over dozens of roses, teddy bears and huge boxes of candy and wonder why no one thought they were special.  Some of these ladies will go home to find their 'other' stretched out on the sofa seeking their own Valentine's Day gift---dinner!  Others will go home to be alone and lick their wounds.  Either way, for many American women Valentine's Day is anything but a love day...it's the "<strong>OK, I'm lonely-why do you have to remind me of that- Day</strong>".

Let's look at the statistics. According to the 2000 US Census, <strong>47.9%</strong> of adult women in the United States are single, separated, divorced or widowed and <strong>43.2%</strong> of adult men are the same. If we subtract the estimated <strong>23%</strong> of gay men from the <strong>43.2% </strong>of single men (<em>wishful thinking</em>), that leaves us with a whopping <strong>20.2%</strong> of the adult male population that...
